“Na pastor wey dey support him church members we go support” — Pastor reportedly pays woman’s ₦550,000 rent after she gives ₦200,000 as seed offering

A Nigerian woman has recounted how a pastor reportedly came to the rescue of a church member who donated her entire ₦200,000 savings as a seed offering, only to face the threat of eviction after falling behind on her rent.

The story was shared by a woman who said she learnt about the incident from a former colleague whose younger sister had reportedly fallen three months behind on her rent and was struggling financially.

According to the account, the woman feared losing her home but decided to donate the money she had saved towards paying her landlord after attending a church programme.

Woman donates entire savings as seed offering

The narrator said her former colleague explained that the pastor had preached about sacrificial giving, encouraging congregants to offer something precious as a demonstration of their faith.

Following the sermon, the woman’s younger sister reportedly donated the entire ₦200,000 in her bank account as a seed offering, hoping to receive double blessings.

However, two weeks passed without the financial breakthrough she had anticipated.

The situation became more urgent when her landlord reportedly issued a final notice, giving her one week to pay the outstanding rent or risk eviction.

With no money available to settle the debt, she contacted her pastor and explained her predicament.

Pastor reportedly transfers ₦550,000 for rent

According to the narrator, the pastor asked the woman to provide her bank account number and subsequently transferred the full ₦550,000 she needed to settle her rent.

The unexpected gesture reportedly left the woman and those who heard the story surprised.

Recounting her reaction, the narrator said:

“My friend said Emmy, we never saw it coming.”

She added that the experience influenced her decision to attend the church the following Sunday.

Explaining her reason for going, she said:

“Na pastor wey dey support him church members we go support.”

Story sparks discussion about sacrificial giving

The account has drawn attention to the relationship between religious giving, faith and the financial responsibilities of church leaders towards their members.

While the woman’s reported experience highlights the pastor’s alleged act of financial assistance, it has also brought renewed attention to the risks of giving away money needed for essential expenses such as rent.

The story has prompted reflection on sacrificial giving and the importance of balancing religious commitments with personal financial responsibilities.
