A pastor has made waves for allegedly urging some members of his congregation to leave, telling them to find work and be productive.
Eyewitnesses said the congregants repeatedly said, “He has pursued us out of the church. Na G.O you be, you no be God,” expressing frustration over being asked to take responsibility for their livelihoods.
The pastor responded by emphasising that faith alone is not a substitute for hard work, and that spiritual direction must be combined with human effort.
Many described the pastor’s actions as stern but necessary, highlighting a growing concern that certain segments of society depend too heavily on faith while ignoring human responsibility.
The incident has provoked significant debate about the balance between spiritual devotion and practical work in modern Nigerian churches.
