“My dream is to start charging $100k to sew one dress” — Veekee James reveals why content creation isn’t enough

Award-winning Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James has stated that she hopes to charge up to $100,000 for a single dress, which explains why she doesn’t intend to give up fashion in favour of content development.

The celebrity designer contrasted the money accessible through social media brand deals with the long-term earning potential of her fashion business in an interview with the CreativiTea Podcast.

Despite the prospects that come with content production, James, who has created a well-known company around wedding and couture designs, stated that she believes fashion has more financial potential.

Sharing her long-term ambition, James said, “In the next five years, I see myself making one dress for $100,000, if not more. Just one dress.”

Although she conceded that content production could lead to profitable contracts, she contended that these agreements might call for much longer commitments.

James explained, “Maybe a content creation deal could pay me $500,000, but that might be a one-year contract.”

She further stated, “The amount I can make from one, two, three, or five dresses wouldn’t even take that long to achieve. Fashion designing is my baby.”

James stated that content creation would continue to be a way to promote her fashion business rather than take the place of it as her main career, despite her increasing social media presence.

The fashion entrepreneur’s ultimate goal is to position the Veekee James brand alongside well-known international premium brands.

Her comments demonstrate the scope of her aspirations as she works to turn her increasing prominence into a valuable global fashion brand.
