Man who sent ₦30,000 to his aunt for 2 years speaks out after discovery she owns a transport business

A Nigerian man who had been sending his aunt ₦30,000 every month for two years was left shocked after making an unexpected discovery.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), @Mrbachelor revealed that the money he consistently sent to his aunt came directly from his salary.

According to him, his aunt, who lives in the village, had contacted him complaining about a leaking roof and a provision shop that was on the verge of collapse.

He said he often survived on garri and groundnuts to ensure she had enough money to get by.

However, during a family reunion in December 2025, he travelled to his hometown and decided to visit her.

Carrying a half bag of rice he had bought for her, he made his way to her street expecting to see the rundown house she had described.

Instead, he was stunned to find a newly built four-bedroom duplex complete with interlocking pavement and a borehole.

After making inquiries, he was told that the house had recently been completed and that his aunt had also acquired two buses for her transport business.

As he stood at the gate trying to process what he had learned, his aunt reportedly called to ask for her monthly allowance.

Recounting the phone conversation, he tweeted, “My son,” her voice cracked pitifully over the line. Have you sent this month’s money? I have not drank water since yesterday”.
