Man recounts 42-day kidnap ordeal in Ekiti, says family paid ₦17m before escape

A Nigerian guy named @GbolahanOl75923 has given a horrifying narrative of his purported abduction in Ekiti State.

He posted this on X in response to a post criticising the abduction of a corper.

According to his post, he was kidnapped on October 23 while working as a farm manager on a farm near the Ekiti–Kogi border.He claimed to have been held captive for 42 days in the wilderness.

Despite paying a ransom of ₦17 million, he was not released until escaping with other captives. He also stated that the ransom payment had placed him and his family in considerable debt.

He expressed unhappiness with his trip and criticised the country’s security situation.

@Wizarab10 said: “January last year, we raised money to free a corper that was kidnapped in Rivers State on her way to camp from Ibadan. She was released and has been with her family since. Some Twitter people were made at me snd warned me not to do it again that it would encourage more kidnap.

Another corper has been kidnapped by bandits and neither government nor private individuals are doing anything. They are flogging him within an inch of his life. Is losing his life more important than securing his release abi we have become so desensitized.”
