Libyan police have arrested an undocumented African migrant following a v!olent incident in the Janzour district of western Tripoli, Libya.

According to reports, the suspect, who was said to appear mentally distressed, allegedly went on a rampage armed with a machete, attacking passing vehicles and pedestrians in the area.

The situation reportedly ended when a passerby, acting in self-defense, shot the suspect in the leg, bringing the att@ck to a halt.

The injured man was subsequently taken to a hospital, where he received medical treatment under supervision.

Residents expressed shock over the incident, which caused panic as the att@cker allegedly swung the machete at people and vehicles on the street.

According to reports published on May 31, 2026, the suspect was later taken into police custody and has been referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings.

Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
