A Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) employee named Aliye Saka, also referred to as Baba Niye, defecated in a restroom while utilizing the facility on hospital property.

According to the Nigerian Tribune, the deceased, who was reportedly an ambulance driver assigned to the hospital’s ambulance bay, passed away on Monday, January 26, while using the restroom. 

The deceased did not exhibit any symptoms of illness prior to his d.ath, according to Mama Bola, a food vendor at the hospital who expressed shock over the incident.

She claims that several hours after entering the facility, the deceased was discovered d£ad while sitting on the toilet.“

“After he excused himself to use the toilet, his body was found there. We became aware of the situation when another person came knocking on the toilet door, but received no response,” she explained.

“About an hour later, the man returned and still got no response. At that point, he forced the door open and found Baba Niye’s lifeless body. I saw him earlier that morning, and he did not look sick at all, so it was a big surprise to hear that he d!ed in the toilet.”

A medical doctor at the facility, Dr Babalola, confirmed the incident. 

When contacted, the Chairman of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) at LASUTH, Comrade Odedeyi Adekunle, confirmed the incident but declined further comment on the tragic occurrence.

“The deceased is one of our members, but I cannot comment on the incident because I am only allowed to respond to union matters,” Adekunle added.
