A Nigerian lady has narrated how she was shamed by a fellow customer at a salon for being childless after she questioned the way the woman handled her crying son.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), she said she was eating chips at the salon when the other customer’s six-year-old son started crying and reaching for her food.
She initially declined to share, but the boy’s mother begged her to give him some to pacify him. She eventually agreed, only for the child to demand the whole pack.
However, she asked why the boy was crying so much, implying that he was used to his mother giving in to his tantrums.
The woman said the boy’s continuous crying became intolerable, which led his mother to ask her to surrender the entire pack of chips, assuring her she would get a replacement.
“Why is he crying like that? Maybe because he knows that you will give him,” she recalled telling the mother.
According to her, the discussion took a surprising turn when the woman asked if she was married and had kids.
After she disclosed that she was married but childless, the mother allegedly replied, “That’s why.”
She said the comment left her speechless, and she ended up giving the remaining chips to the boy, asking him to forgive her.
Her story has shed light on the friction that can emerge when people have conflicting views on parenting, especially when personal life is dragged into the disagreement.
