Lady recounts encounter with struggling coursemate

A netizen describes how, after they gave money for their struggling classmate, he issued them a wedding invitation.

She said that members of the group had previously donated over ₦1.2 million to help the classmate who had allegedly been jobless for six years.

The money was purportedly meant to support him in starting a small business or learning a trade skill.

Soon after, she said, the beneficiary shocked everyone by presenting a wedding invitation and explaining that he had chosen to wed his four-year girlfriend since he now had “a little money.”

The woman claimed that the group’s members were taken aback by the revelation, particularly since the money had been donated for a different reason.

She claims that the situation worsened after the man allegedly sent another message requesting financial support from the group, claiming that his wedding budget was ₦3.2 million and that he was unable to pay for it on his own.

She said that members removed him from the group chat after the request was not well welcomed.

“My coursemates and I contributed ₦1.2 million for one of our classmates who has been jobless for the past 6 years.

We raised the money to help him learn a skill or start a small business so he could get back on his feet.

Just last week, he sent his wedding invitation in the group.

The whole group went silent.

When we asked him why, he said since he now had “a little money,” he decided it was the right time to marry his girlfriend of 4 years.

We said nothing.

He sent another message:

“Guys please, I can’t do this alone. My wedding budget is ₦3.2 million. I need your support.”

They removed him from the group immediately🙄”
