Kenyan woman, Magdaline Wangeci, has been sentenced in the United Kingdom after a doorbell camera recorded her throwing lit matches at her neighbour’s house

Magdaline Wangeci, a Kenyan woman, was sentenced in the United Kingdom after a doorbell camera captured her throwing lit matches at her neighbour’s home in Ashford, Kent.

According to the court, the act was a “revenge” arson attempt committed while the family was sleeping inside the house. Fortunately, heavy rain kept the matches from igniting, and no fire broke out. Wangeci admitted to the offense.

Magistrates sentenced her to four months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and imposed a five-year restraining order prohibiting her from contacting or approaching her neighbour. She was also ordered to pay the court costs.

The case demonstrates how quickly personal disputes can escalate into serious criminal charges, even if no physical harm occurs.
