Victoria Innocent, wife of gospel singer Kaestrings, has reacted to criticisms surrounding married women adopting or publicly using their husbands’ names.

Sharing her experience online, Victoria recounted a conversation with a woman who questioned why she introduced herself as “Mrs Kaestrings” instead of using her personal name.

According to her, the caller argued that constantly identifying with her husband’s name could cause her to lose her identity as an individual.

Reacting to the criticism, Victoria dismissed the argument and questioned why some feminists appear uncomfortable with women openly honoring their husbands in that manner.

She maintained that using her husband’s name does not reduce her worth or individuality, stressing that her choice is personal and does not make her “less of a woman.”

Her comments have since sparked debate online, with social media users sharing differing opinions on marriage, identity, feminism, and cultural traditions surrounding surnames.

“I was on a phone with this certain lady and I was like Hi, this is Mrs Kaestrings she then goes to say Ah ah Victoria is that you? You are supposed to say it is Victoria, why are you saying Mrs Kaestrings. You have your name, you have your identity. You don’t have to go over using your husband’s name so you don’t lose yourself.
