Isaac Fayose reacts to viral video of soldier’s mother lamenting over war

Isaac Fayose, a Nigerian businessman and social commentator, has responded to a viral video of an elderly widow lamenting the hardships endured by soldiers combating the insurgency in Sambisa forest.

The woman, who described herself as the wife of a retired soldier and mother of a current soldier, made an emotional plea to Nigerian politicians to address the suffering of soldiers in the field.

Her comments sparked great outrage online after the video circulated on social media channels.

In response to the video, Fayose criticised what he saw as an increasing tendency of political elites grooming their own children for leadership positions while the children of regular residents risk their lives in combat zones.

Read what he said below;

“Politicians are trying to install their own children as the next leaders. You can see their children going up and down as if they are the president. As if they are the house of representatives.

But the children of the poor are in Sambisa forest fighting war. Listening to the cry of this widow…”

In the poignant video, the elderly grandmother discussed the anguish of having a son in the military and the sacrifices her family has made over the years.
