A Nigerian man received a credit alert for ₦24 million in a bank account he had abandoned for two years, sparking outrage online.
According to him, the incident occurred on Sunday while he was casually scrolling through his phone.
A massive credit notification appeared out of nowhere, and he maintains he had no expectation of receiving money from anyone.
“Today is Sunday, I was just scrolling through my phone and I saw this credit alert. I don’t know if it’s Valentine gift from EFCC or Fidelity Bank. I’m not a thief.
The way you people transferred that money, you people should remove it. I won’t touch a dime from it. I have not used that account for like two years now.”
The obviously concerned man indicated that he chose to make the video right away to shield himself from any potential accusations or legal issues.
While several Nigerians commended his honesty, others suggested that he immediately report the problem to his bank rather than simply publishing it online.
Many others also warned that if suspicious transfers are not handled appropriately, they could result in major investigations.
A commentator wrote, “Better no touch that money, make you no go land for kirikiri😭.” Another added, “This country fit test person integrity. Please go bank first thing tomorrow morning.”
For the time being, the man argues that the money is not his and that he will not spend any of it.
