Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has revealed how she would handle a situation where she became attracted to someone else while already in a serious relationship.
The singer shared her view while responding to a woman seeking relationship advice during an episode of the Ask Ayra Starr show.
‘I Would Break Up Instead of Dating Both’
Ayra Starr said that if she were in a committed relationship and subsequently met another man she considered more attractive, she would end her existing relationship rather than pursue both relationships simultaneously.
According to the singer, taking time away from both relationships could also help a person understand their feelings before making another commitment.
“If I’m in a serious relationship with a guy and then I find another guy more attractive, I would break up with him instead of dating both of them at the same time. I don’t think you can love two people.. I think you need time to yourself so you can figure it out,” she said.
Ayra Starr Warns Against Losing Friends In Relationships
The singer also advised people in romantic relationships not to abandon their friendships simply because they have found a partner.
She stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between romantic relationships and friendships, while warning against partners attempting to isolate each other from their social circles.
“You should never abandon your friends because you are in love. Your partner should not isolate you from your friends because you are in a relationship. They should be a balance between friendship and relationship in love,” the singer added.
Her comments have since sparked discussions online about attraction, commitment, emotional boundaries and the importance of maintaining friendships while in a romantic relationship.
