IGP orders probe into disappearance, alleged k!lling of social critic, Dadiyata

Olatunji Rilwan Disu has directed the Police Monitoring Unit to investigate allegations linking two senior police officers to the disappearance and alleged k!lling of social critic Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata.

The officers named in the allegations are CSP Hussaini Gimba and CSP Hassan Gimba.

Dadiyata, a lecturer and social media activist, was abducted from his residence in Barnawa, Kaduna, in August 2019 and has not been seen or heard from since then. His disappearance has remained a major issue of concern among activists and human rights groups in Nigeria.

According to reports, the latest directive followed a series of petitions submitted by Kano-based activist and human rights lawyer Abba Hikima on Friday, May 8.

The development has reignited public discussions surrounding Dadiyata’s disappearance, with many Nigerians calling for a transparent investigation and accountability.
