A Nigerian woman who expressed a direct view about males who don’t have Valentine’s Day plans in 2026 has provoked discussion on social media.
If a man doesn’t have a Valentine’s Day date or someone with whom to share gifts this year, he shouldn’t call himself a man, according to a woman in a video that has gone viral online.

“If as a man in this big 2026 that we’re in, you don’t have a valentine, you don’t have anybody buying you anything, you’re not buying anything for anybody, you’re not a man, you’re a monkey.
To be honest, in 2026, you don’t have a valentine date? Nobody? Nobody loves you? You’re a monkey. So look for the nearest tree and stay on it.”
Since then, her message has sparked a range of responses on the internet.
Being single on Valentine’s Day is not a sign of someone’s worth or manhood, according to some, while others dismissed it as a joke and termed it a cruise.
One user wrote, “So because I’m single, I’m now a monkey? Valentine’s Day is not a life achievement abeg.” Another commented, “Not having a date doesn’t reduce anybody’s worth. Rest abeeg”
Some commenters also brought up the fact that not all people observe Valentine’s Day, and some men might just decide not to take part.
