“I went for NYSC, but came back paralysed” – Lady recounts how an accident changed her life

A Nigerian woman identified as Eniola has touched the hearts of many after sharing how a road accident while returning from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp left her with a life-changing spinal cord injury.

In an emotional video shared on TikTok by a close friend, Eniola recounted that the incident happened in 2021 after she was asked to leave the NYSC orientation camp due to illness.

According to her, she had been deployed to Akwa Ibom State but fell ill about two weeks into the orientation programme and was advised to return home.

Recounting the tragic experience, she said:

“In 2021, I had an accident when I was coming back from NYSC camp. I was supposed to go to Akwa Ibom State and I got sick after like two weeks in camp, so they asked me to go home. On my way back, I had an accident and I was the only survivor. The accident affected my spinal cord and since then, I’ve been like this.”

Her story has drawn an outpouring of sympathy on social media, with many users offering prayers, words of encouragement, and support as she continues to live with the effects of the spinal cord injury.
