A medical doctor described how his colleague repaid ₦99 million that was wrongly debited to his account as salary arrears.
The medical doctor, @DoctorCruise on X (previously Twitter), stated that the incident occurred in 2024 under the previous Edo State government.
In a popular tweet, the doctor revealed that they met with the Accountant General (ARD) and were advised to return the money. They then reported the situation to the state department.
According to the X user, the Director of Finance and Accounts (DFA) escorted them to the bank to reimburse the money, causing an interbank dispute and involving the state accountant general.
However, the matter was fixed after two weeks, but his friend is yet to get his gratuity payout.

In 2024, a colleague of mine was mistakenly paid 99 million naira by the previous state government as salary arrears as seen in the screenshot, he reached out to me and I told him to return the money.
We met with the ARD president, and the president advised us to return the money, we then went to the state account department to report the issue.
The DFA took us to the bank, we tried sending the money back to the state government but the account limit won’t allow it, it became an interbank issue, we then had to involve the state accountant general who even invited us to his office.
The bank needed the Doctor’s authorisation for the money to be removed which he gave and it took weeks before the money was finally removed from that account.
I am hoping that a day will come when this current Edo state govt will give him his due recognition.
