Mr. Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of Nollywood actress Judy Austin, has responded to critics who questioned his emotional display while speaking about his children.

In a video circulating online, he clarified that his tears were not about his former wife but stemmed from his struggle to maintain a relationship with his children.

“I want to make it clear, I’m not crying for a woman. I have a wife. I’m crying for my children, which I have been trying my best to make sure I have a relationship with them,” he said.

Obasi also expressed frustration that some people focused more on his handkerchief than the message behind his emotional outburst.

He questioned why Nigerians were more interested in criticising his reaction instead of understanding the pain of a father trying to reconnect with his children.

“Nigerian men should be very careful. Imagine your fellow man coming out to cry that he went to see his children, and you people are busy looking at my handkerchief. What concerns my handkerchief with what I am crying about?” he added.

His comments follow a recent podcast appearance where he made several claims about his former wife and her alleged affair with Yul Edochie, during which he also broke down in tears in a viral clip that sparked widespread reactions online.

He maintains that his focus remains on his children and his desire to rebuild their relationship, urging the public to look beyond criticism and understand his emotional struggle as a father.
