Waje, a popular Nigerian musician, has spoken up about her previous challenges with body image and insecurity, and how she dealt with such issues.
During an appearance on Tope Olowoniyan’s Her Next Chapter podcast, the 44-year-old admitted to feeling self-conscious about her body, particularly her upper torso.
“Even before I had my child, I have always been heavy at the top. I used to hide it. In my 20s, I used to wear like three bras because I was very uncomfortable about how heavy I was at the top,” she said.
According to the singer, she overcame her insecurity as she gained confidence in herself over time.
She also stated that becoming a mother helped her love her physique and see herself in a new light.
“With time, I became more confident, and having my child changed how I see my body,” she added.
Waje also praised close friends like as M.I Abaga and Kaffy with helping her gain confidence and grow a thick skin in the face of unfavourable comments.
It should also be noted that in a previous interview, the music diva confirmed her engagement late last year, albeit she did not reveal the identity of her fiancé.
