A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread reactions on social media after opening up about what she described as some of the “stupid” things she did out of love while she was in a relationship with her ex-boyfriend.

In a viral video circulating online, the woman reflected on several sacrifices she made during the relationship, saying anyone who feels foolish should remember the lengths she once went for someone she loved.

She began by recalling a time when her ex-boyfriend was seriously ill and too weak to get out of bed.

She said:

“If you ever feel stupid, just know that that time that I was still living with my ex, there was one time that he was not feeling fine. He was very, very, very down. He couldn’t stand up from the bed.”

She then revealed one of the most shocking moments from the relationship.

“There was spit inside his mouth. So, I told him that he should pour the saliva inside my own mouth, so I’ll go and do it for him because he was very down and I didn’t want to stress him. He poured the saliva inside my own mouth and I went outside and poured it away for him.”

The woman also recounted how protective she was of her ex whenever they walked the streets of Lagos together.

“That time that we were still in Lagos, anytime we saw dirty water on the road, I would rather let the dirty water touch me than let it touch my ex. I would step into it first because I didn’t want his leg to touch the dirty water.”

She further disclosed that her ex received notifications whenever money was sent to her.

“He was the one that used to receive my alerts. If someone sent money to me, he would receive the alert first and then tell me how much had been sent.”

According to her, after the birth of their child, she became uncomfortable with him introducing her as his girlfriend because they were not legally married.

She explained:

“When I gave birth to my child, my ex was always calling me his girlfriend and I didn’t like that because I had given birth. I didn’t want people to know we were not legally married.”

She admitted that she was the one who begged him to start referring to her as his wife.

“I pleaded with him to be calling me his wife so it wouldn’t look like we were not married. I was the one that initiated that conversation. We even quarrelled over it before we settled.”

Her revelation has since generated mixed reactions online, with many social media users expressing shock at some of the sacrifices she made, while others said her story highlights the extent to which people can go for love.
