A young woman described her horror when a man she had been communicating with for months unexpectedly discarded the chance of a relationship, claiming he saw her as a daughter despite his earlier flirty behaviour.

The incident, which surfaced online on Thursday, has stirred discussions about honesty, age disclosure, and emotional limits in modern dating.

According to the woman, the contact evolved over time with regular talks, compliments, and what she described as “pure vibes” with no pressure.

She assumed the man was her age based on his youthful appearance and manner of communication. However, a casual remark she made during a chat elicited an unexpected response, which completely shifted the dynamic.

“I joked with him, saying, ‘All these things you’re doing, I wouldn’t even date you,’ expecting banter. Instead, he replied, ‘I’m way older than you. I only see you as my daughter.’ I thought he was joking, but he went further to say if he had a child, she would be my age.”

“He had been complimenting me and flirting for months. So hearing ‘you are like my daughter’ after all that felt confusing. I didn’t even know what to make of it.”
