“I needed exactly 200K” – Abuja lady shares encounter after ₦300,000 was mistakenly sent to her account

A Nigerian lady received considerable praise on social media for returning ₦300,000 that was inadvertently deposited to her bank account.

The woman shared her story on X (previously Twitter) under the name @cocoofabuja.

She received an unexpected alert of ₦300,000 from an anonymous source. Despite her urgent need for ₦200,000 to address personal difficulties, she refused to spend funds she did not own.

According to her, she went about her usual routines until she received a call from a woman who claimed that the money had been delivered in error and was intended to support her mother’s hospital fees.

She immediately sought the appropriate information and reimbursed the entire amount.

She sarcastically mentioned that her account balance had reverted to “default” following the refund, but emphasised that she would rather do the right thing than profit from someone else’s suffering.

@cocoofabuja shared: “Woke up this morning to an alert of 300k,I don’t know the sender neither do I remember asking anyone for money recently.
In my heart,I was excited I needed exactly 200k out of this money to sort things out but my conscience wouldn’t let me .
I went about doing my chores till a call came in, I picked and the caller introduced herself saying she mistakenly sent money to my opay and it was meant for her mum’s hospital bills,I quickly requested for her details and sent the money back bringing my account back to default 😂😂😂😂.
I needed money yes, but not at the cost of someone’s tears.
Good morning x”
