“I need a rich husband, I don’t deal with poor men” – Woman cries out over pressure to get married

A Nigerian woman has expressed her frustration with being single on social media due to pressure from friends and relatives to get married.

She clarified in a widely circulated video on X (previously Twitter) that the expectations and repeated reminders from people around her have forced her to publicly express the kind of mate she wants.

“Please, I need a husband. My family are disturbing me to get married, my friends, my mom, everybody. I’m tired of being single. I’m serious about it. I need a rich guy, a responsible man, a God-fearing man, a handsome man that will take care of me.”

She went on to emphasise how important money is to her, saying that she likes to be around wealthy people and thinks that marrying a wealthy man will improve her quality of life.

The woman stated that she wants a single man who can live up to her standards and that she has no interest in dating poor males.

“I don’t like staying with poor people. I like staying with rich people. When you marry a rich man, you upgrade yourself. I need a rich man that will take care of me. And I don’t need a married man, I need a single guy,” she added.

Many reactions have followed her confession. One user wrote, “At least she no hide am, but I hope she’s rich too 😅” while another commented: “God-fearing but na money first?”

Reactions to her statement have been conflicting, with many questioning whether her criteria are reasonable or unduly materialistic.
