US President Donald Trump has attracted attention after making a remark about rapper Nicki Minaj’s appearance during a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, where the musician appeared alongside him on Sunday, October 25.

Trump made the comment while addressing supporters at McMorran Place Arena. The president and Minaj had reportedly travelled to the event together aboard Air Force One.

While speaking to supporters, Trump complimented Minaj’s backside, prompting cheers from the audience.

“By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before — Nicki Minaj. That’s hard to miss,” he said.

He subsequently asked the rapper to stand up and acknowledged that his comment might have offended her.

Following the remark, Trump expressed hope that Minaj had not taken offence, reiterating his admiration for the rapper and her support for him.

“I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted, but we love Nicki. She’s been with us for a long time,” he said.

The comment came as Trump discussed earlier remarks about Republican Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s physique. Earlier in October, the president had reportedly spoken about Husted’s background as a college football player while praising his athletic build and hands.

The latest remark adds to previous public comments Trump has made about Minaj’s appearance.

In July, the president reportedly described the rapper as “so hot” during a White House luncheon. In February, he also reportedly praised her skin during a Black History Month reception.

Minaj has publicly expressed support for Trump, making their political association a subject of discussion.

Their appearance together at the Michigan rally has drawn further attention, with Trump’s remarks about the rapper’s physical appearance emerging as one of the notable moments from the event.
