I Have Never Carried a Ballot Box in My Life, So I am Not Going to Ask Anyone to Vote For Me – Bishop Oyedepo

According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the senior pastor of Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has issued a call to action to all eligible Nigerians, including church members, to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in time for the 2027 general elections.

While speaking to the congregation at Sunday’s church session at Canaanland in Ota, Ogun State, he delivered the charge and emphasised the need of being a responsible citizen.

While preaching a sermon with the subject “Breaking the Curses of Life,” Oyedepo exhorted Christians to take action on matters pertaining to the country’s leadership.

Claiming to be a citizen, he emphasised that Christians must not shirk their duty to cast a ballot in elections.

The clergyman went on to say that getting a permanent voter card is a practical thing that eligible people may do in the time leading up to the next general election.

He maintains that people have a voice in selecting the leaders of their country when they participate actively in the democratic process.

The importance of Christians staying engaged in political events and not letting others decide who should lead was highlighted by Oyedepo.

Voting in elections is one legitimate and peaceful democratic way for citizens to shape the future of the country, he said.

However, the bishop did stress that Living Faith Church Worldwide is not affiliated with any political group or candidate, and that it continues to be non-partisan.

Rather than claiming allegiance to a particular political party, he insisted that every qualified voter should exercise their civic duty.

He went on to say that he had never sought electoral support for himself or campaigned for a political office.

He claims it is his job to uphold the church’s long-established stance of political neutrality while urging congregation members to carry out their civic duties.

“I have never carried a ballot box in my life, so I am not going to ask anyone to vote for me. I am already voted for,” he said.
