In response to Davido’s recent assertion that no artist has more hit songs than him, controversial singer Portable entered the debate and asserted that he had more hits than the Afrobeats superstar.
In a previous post that Gistreel covered, Davido stated that he insisted that no artist had more hits than him and that he was willing to throw $1 million on the table to compete with any other artist in a hit-song duel. Since then, his remarks have sparked discussion among musicians and music lovers.
In response to the challenge, Portable audaciously stated that he was prepared to take on Davido, asserting that his songs and joint ventures have yielded significant hits.
“I’m here to challenge Davido, say I get hit song pass am. My featuring, my single was a hit. And Olamide Baddo was a hit maker. He hit me, he gifted me hit. Yes, he gave me a feature, just like Skepta. Skepta gave me a feature. They gave me a hit.”
Portable, who gained widespread recognition for his work with Olamide and Poco Lee on “Zazoo Zehh,” has emphasised his partnerships with other musicians, such as Skepta.
He continued to brag about his catalogue and implied that the only thing left for him was to take advantage of the money he made from his career as a musician.
“I’m a single hit. I get hit pass Davido oo. Na money just remain to buy luxury cars like Lambo and the rest. Na everyday me I dey sing hit.”
The current debate about whether Nigerian musician has the best collection of hit songs is further complicated by Portable’s reaction.
Other musicians are now taking notice of Davido’s $1 million challenge, so music fans will probably keep arguing over who would win a possible hit-for-hit competition.
