Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has questioned why security agencies appear unable to locate baπdits and other cr!minal groups despite demonstrating the capacity to track ordinary citizens and social media personalities.
Speaking during an appearance on TVC Communications, Buratai addressed growing public concerns over the activities of baπdits, particularly cases in which cr•minal groups allegedly display ransom proceeds on social media without being swiftly apprehended.
He challenged the notion that such groups are impossible to trace, arguing that the intelligence-gathering and tracking capabilities used to identify and arrest civil offenders should also be effective in locating cr•minals operating from remote hideouts.
Buratai’s remarks came in response to concerns about the apparent impunity enjoyed by some baπdit groups, who have been accused of openly flaunting ransom money collected from the families of k•dnapping victims.
His comments have added to the ongoing national conversation about security, intelligence gathering, and the effectiveness of efforts to combat k•dnapping and baπditry across parts of Nigeria.
Responding, Buratai said
‘’I don’t think they fail to locate. If they can locate ordinary citizens or social media influencers, I don’t believe they cannot locate these baπdits that flaunt their loots or their activities.”
