Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has shared a deeply personal and painful experience that led her to confront a former pastor accused of abusing her younger sister and other teenage girls.
In a heartfelt interview on With Chude, Olayode recounted how years of personal trauma informed her urgent response when she discovered the alleged misconduct. She explained that noticing disturbing patterns reminiscent of past abuse compelled her to act without delay.
Reflecting on the difficulty of speaking out against a spiritual leader, Olayode admitted that her church upbringing made the decision even harder. Despite this, her protective instincts for vulnerable girls outweighed fear of backlash.
“I called out my former pastor because he was secretly abusing my younger sister and other teenage girls,” she stated, underscoring that the alleged abuse was not isolated to one victim. The scope of the misconduct, according to Olayode, strengthened her determination to intervene and protect others.
Olayode revealed that she initially attempted to address the issue privately, giving the pastor a chance to acknowledge wrongdoing and change his behavior. She described offering grace at first, hoping for repentance. However, when the alleged abuse reportedly persisted, she felt compelled to take the matter public.
The emotional impact of confronting the situation was significant. Olayode recounted struggling with anxiety, depression, and fear during that time. Despite the personal toll, she emphasized that speaking out was necessary to prevent further harm and protect other girls.
The actress highlighted that her motivation was rooted in defending others, noting that while advocating for herself had been challenging, she found strength in safeguarding others. Olayode also described the experience as a critical part of her healing process, reinforcing her commitment to standing against abuse and raising awareness of such hidden dangers within trusted institutions.
