A man generated outrage on social media after publishing the account of a married woman who said her spouse had not been sexual with her for over three years due to spiritual teachings from an Alfa.

According to the man, the woman called him for help with her marital problems. Although he was originally hesitant to become involved, he devised a method for her spouse to respond so that he could hear his side of the tale firsthand.

He stated the wife was respectful throughout the chat, but the husband insisted he was dealing with personal issues and would eventually improve.

Sharing part of the conversation, the man quoted the husband as saying, “He was told by his Alfa that the prayer he is doing requires him to stay away from his wife.”

He also stated that the spouse had revealed that he was struggling financially and emotionally.

The man questioned the explanation, writing, “Like he has been praying for 1, 2, 3, 4 years?”

Expressing his disbelief, he added, “I am forced to ask, who is raising these kinds of men in the society?”

Using the story as a warning, the guy advised women to thoroughly research the backgrounds of anyone they wish to marry, especially if they suspect involvement with anyone claiming to have spiritual powers.

He said, “Immediately you suspect that your fiancée or husband-to-be patronises those Alfas (the babalawos in disguise) or sorcerers, please run for your life, even if the wedding date has been picked.”

The article has subsequently sparked extensive discussion online, with many Nigerians arguing the role of religious views, marital obligations, and the need of resolving relationship issues before to marriage.
