“He’s demanding child maintenance from me” — Woman stunned as ex-husband seeks child support after taking custody

A woman has ignited an online controversy after stating that her ex-husband is requesting child maintenance from her after taking full custody of their children, despite having previously been ordered by the court to pay support.

According to the woman, her ex-husband told her early last week that he would be caring for their sons full-time as she prepares to relocate.

As a result, he ceased making the child support payments that had been agreed upon during their divorce.

She clarified that the money was not personal income, but rather for the children’s extracurricular activities.

That money was for their breakfast club, after-school club, tutoring, athletics and football,” she said, adding that it did not cover rent or food.

She said she had no issue with the payments stopping once the children were no longer in her care. “That was absolutely fine, no questions asked,” she stated.

The situation took an unexpected turn when her ex-husband allegedly demanded that she start paying him child maintenance. “He literally repeated himself,” she said, expressing shock at the request.

She noted that her financial situation had changed significantly. “It’s not like I have the financial security or pulling power I had before,” she explained, questioning how she was expected to make such payments.

She also revealed that he reclaimed a car previously provided for carrying the children, which she said she accepted without question.

The woman claimed she later received an email from a mediation provider informing her that her ex-husband had directed them to begin proceedings. She declined the request.

I’m not mediating over paying child maintenance when I paid for the entire divorce,” she said. Her father reportedly dismissed the demand, telling her to ignore it, saying he had “never heard of men getting money off women” in such a situation.

The incident has sparked conflicting comments online, with many questioning the legitimacy and fairness of the demand.
