A man revealed how he learned that a worker pocketed a portion of the money he provided him to buy a padlock, only noticing the discrepancy after checking the item’s pricing himself.
The man gave the worker ₦10,000 to buy a padlock. After a few minutes, the worker returned with the item and gave him the remaining ₦1,000.
The man accepted the padlock and ₦1,000 change without hesitation, believing the transaction was accurate.
However, he then decided to ask about the pricing of the same padlock while shopping for another item.
Recounting the experience, the man said, “I sent a worker to get padlocks for me. I gave him 10,000 Naira.” He explained that the worker returned shortly afterwards with the padlock and ₦1,000 as change.
He further stated, “Today I went to buy something and I decided to price the same padlock. Guess how much? I was told 7000 Naira! So this man pocketed 2000 Naira and gave me back 1000 Naira. Why he didn’t take all the 3k is what I don’t understand.”
The man’s claim has gained traction on social media, with many users surprised by the purported encounter.
Some commentators recommended consumers to double-check pricing before sending others on errands, while others claimed the worker’s actions, if correct, were a breach of trust.
Others pointed out that the report demonstrates the necessity of transparency in everyday interactions, despite the fact that the accusations are the man’s personal recollection of the incident.
