“He didn’t even think about it” — Man shares how keke driver turned down ₦400k profit offer

According to a man, a keke driver with ₦2.5 million in savings rejected his offer to invest ₦2 million for six months in exchange for a ₦400,000 return right away.

The man claims that while he and the commercial tricycle operator were talking about money, the driver disclosed that he had saved ₦2.5 million.

The driver reportedly explained that he wanted to increase his savings to ₦5 million before using the money to purchase land when the man asked how long he planned to keep the money before needing it.

The man claimed that after that, he offered the driver ₦2 million of his savings.

He proposed, “Give me 2M from that money then after 6Months I will pay you 2.4M.”

Instead of keeping the money in his account, the proposal would return the driver’s ₦2 million plus an extra ₦400,000 after six months.

The man claimed that despite the proposal’s potential ₦400,000 gain, the young driver just turned it down and changed the topic.

The experience has highlighted the significance of financial literacy, especially the requirement to comprehend various options for investing and saving money.

However, the driver’s choice also brings to light another aspect of money management: people may place more importance on safeguarding savings designated for particular objectives than on seeking greater financial returns.

Discussions about whether having a specific financial objective can affect how people approach investment opportunities have been spurred by the account.
