Suspected armed bandits on Thursday attacked Sabon Gari (Yilpo) community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing a youth miner, injuring two others, and abducting another resident.

According to a youth leader in the community, Nandom Ishaku, the victims were returning from mining activities when they were ambushed along the Aloghom–Yilpo–Mwansat College axis by heavily armed attackers.

The deceased miner was identified simply as Kyenshak, while the injured victims are currently receiving treatment. Efforts are reportedly ongoing to secure the release of the abducted youth.

The incident has heightened concerns over the growing insecurity affecting communities in Plateau State and other parts of North Central Nigeria.
