Despite mounting interest from elite European clubs, Victor Osimhen’s future at Galatasaray seems more likely after club president Dursun Özbek stated the Turkish champions have no plans to trade the Nigerian striker.

The Spanish powerhouses Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are reportedly keeping an eye on the Super Eagles forward’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window, as he has been linked to a move away from Istanbul in recent months.

After first joining the team on loan from Napoli last year, Osimhen has emerged as one of Galatasaray’s most important players.

The 27-year-old has had an incredible time in Turkey, helping the team win two Turkish Super Lig titles and one Turkish Cup while scoring 59 goals in 74 games.

Numerous European teams have expressed interest in the Nigerian international due to his performances, but Galatasaray has consistently insisted that he is not for sale.

According to reports in Turkey, Atletico Madrid recently turned down a €120 million offer. Özbek has now reinforced that attitude by implying that Galatasaray’s position will remain unchanged even in the event of a substantially greater offer.

“We didn’t buy Osimhen to sell. We have a football player who adds a lot of value to Galatasaray and loves Galatasaray very much,” Özbek said via Forza Cimbom.

“We want him to serve Galatasaray for many years. Osimhen is also very happy at Galatasaray.”

Clubs seeking to recruit Osimhen this summer are severely hurt by Galatasaray’s most recent remarks.

While Atletico Madrid is reportedly looking for more attacking firepower, Barcelona has been connected to the Nigerian as they continue to plan for the future beyond seasoned striker Robert Lewandowski.

Additionally, head coach Okan Buruk has already rejected rumours that Osimhen might depart.

Osimhen, meantime, continues to concentrate on his life in Istanbul, where he has rapidly gained popularity.
