A Nigerian guy living in the United Kingdom provoked outrage online after comparing petrol costs in Nigeria to those in the UK.

In a viral video published on X (previously Twitter), a man expressed amazement at Nigerians demonstrating over petrol prices, alleging that fuel presently costs around ₦1,300 per litre in Nigeria.

According to him, Nigerians are not appreciating President Bola Tinubu enough for the present petrol price.

He contrasted the pricing with the cost of fuel in the United Kingdom, where he claimed to have recently complained about paying £2.09 per litre before the price jumped higher.

“Fuel is ₦1,300 in Nigeria, you people are shouting, protesting. Last two weeks, I was complaining that fuel is £2.09, now it’s £2.10. Una no know wetin God do for una wey dey Nigeria. Instead of you people to be thanking Jagagban (Tinubu). That man dey try for una, he too dey try for una.”

His comments come in the wake of recent rises in Nigerian petrol prices. According to September 2026 reports, petrol prices in various cities, including Lagos, have increased to roughly ₦1,400 to ₦1,450 per litre.

The man’s comparison has sparked debate online, with Nigerians expressing differing opinions on fuel prices and the cost of living in both countries.
