Veteran Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani has reportedly terminated his contract with Argentine club Boca Juniors, bringing an end to his spell with the team at the age of 39.

The former Manchester United forward follows ex-teammate Ander Herrera, who also recently departed the club earlier this month.

Cavani joined Boca Juniors in 2023 and went on to score 28 goals in 81 appearances for the Argentine side.

Despite leaving the club, the experienced striker is expected to continue his playing career while also dedicating time to managing his premium wine business, Cavani Wines, which was launched in 2024.

According to reports, recurring injury problems played a significant role in the mutual decision to part ways without compensation.

The veteran forward was limited to just two appearances this season due to lumbago and a herniated disc.

During his time at Manchester United between 2020 and 2022, Cavani scored 19 goals in 59 matches before moving to Spain.

On the international stage, he recorded 58 goals in 136 appearances for Uruguay, making him the country’s second-highest goalscorer of all time behind Luis Suárez.

Cavani was also part of the Uruguay team that won the 2011 Copa América.
