A family has raised alarm over their elderly mother’s increasing commitment to a local church, claiming a pastor has been coercing her into making financial contributions in return for miracles, healing, and spiritual protection.

According to a post seeking guidance, the woman has spent most of the past year donating money to the pastor, exhausting her pension savings, selling off some of her jewellery, and even requesting loans from her children to sustain the donations.

The issue reportedly escalated when her children attempted to warn her about the financial demands, referring to the pastor as a “Temu prophet” and voicing concerns that she was being exploited.

However, their mother allegedly responded with anger, citing Bible verses and accusing them of standing against the work of a “Man of God.”

The family said they fear she is jeopardizing her retirement security to meet the pastor’s demands, describing him as a “lemenemene” (trickster).

Now seeking advice, the family is asking how they can shield their elderly mother from what they perceive as a manipulative religious group without straining their relationship with her.
