Peller, a popular Nigerian content creator, has responded strongly after facing criticism for the luxurious cars he purchased for his partner, Jarvis, and his mother.
The scandal began days after the influencer handed his love interest a Mercedes-Benz for ₦130 million for her birthday, although he previously bought his mother a Hyundai valued ₦20 million.
Following the news, some social media users chastised Peller, accusing him of prioritising his lover before his mother.
The connection instantly went viral, igniting intense debates on multiple platforms.
Peller responded to the uproar with a message that sparked even more outrage on social media.
“People were criticizing me because I bought a Mercedes-Benz for my baby and a Hyundai for my mum. They didn’t know that Jesus saw His mum and ignored her, and He died for the world,” he said.
His biblical connection sparked a new wave of debate, with many Nigerians rejecting the comparison and calling it needless.
While some supporters defended him, claiming that he has the right to spend his money as he wants, others complained that bringing religion into the discourse was inappropriate.
One user wrote, “Why involve Jesus in this matter?” Another added, “It’s his money, let him gift who he wants.”
