“Don’t waste 15–20 years in mumu marriage” — Interior designer Ehizogie Ogbebor speaks out on abu$ive unions

?Don?t waste 15?20 years in mumu marriage? ? interior designer Ehizogie Ogbebor speaks out on abusive unions

Celebrity interior designer Ehizogie Ogbebor called out what she called “mumu marriage” and urged women to stop losing themselves in abus!ve relationships in a very personal and heartfelt message.

Ehizogie disclosed in a video that was uploaded following church that she was married at the age of 18 and fled the union with two kids at the age of 20 after nearly losing her son to abu$£. She claims that her strong opinions about marriage, self-worth, and mental health were influenced by that experience.

She bemoaned the fact that many loving, intelligent women spend 15 to 20 years in financially, emotionally, and mentally taxing marriages—often due to family pressure, endurance, or having children. She claimed that while attempting to “manage” men who don’t value them or comprehend what marriage really entails, these women gradually lose their identity, confidence, and happiness.

Growing up in homes that are tense, neglectful, and emotionally abusive has a profound impact on children, according to Ehizogie, who also noted that staying “for the kids” frequently causes more harm than good. She also noted that many women who give up everything are left behind when their husbands “find themselves” or find “greener pastures.”

While clarifying that she is not encouraging people to walk out of marriage at the slightest issue, she emphasized the importance of knowing when a relationship has reached a dead end. According to her, when mental health, self-confidence, and peace are completely gone and there is no willingness to change, walking away may be the wiser option.

She encouraged women to seek help, stand up for themselves, and stop living in fear of public opinion, saying it is better to be labeled than to grow old unhappy and broken.
