‘Don’t Threaten Me’ – President Goes Head-to-Head With Trump

Colombian President Gustavo Petro shut down Trump’s threat to next go after the Caribbean nation’s leader, while offering to hold more diplomatic talks in person.

“Don’t threaten me, I’m waiting for you here if you want,” Petro said toward Trump in a Monday speech, waving a pencil in the air. “I don’t accept invasions, I don’t accept missiles, I don’t accept assassinations. I accept intelligence.”

After claiming the U.S. is now “in charge” of Venezuela, Trump suggested the U.S. could take similar action in Colombia, Mexico and Greenland. He accused Petro of being involved with cocaine production, an issue that has plagued the country for decades. Petro rejected the claim, and warned that efforts to detain him will light a fire under the Colombian people.

“Come talk intelligently. We’ll welcome you and talk face-to-face with real figures, not lies,” Petro said. “Stop being deceived by the Colombian mafias, because they condemned us to 700,000 dead [and] made the country the most unequal in the world.”
