A Nigerian woman, Tonia Umerah, has shared a comment she received from a married woman after posting photos of the new curtains she recently installed in her home.
According to Tonia, the woman commented that she was getting older and encouraged her to “give love a chance.”
Reacting to the remark, Tonia questioned what she described as society’s strong focus on marriage, saying she is not certain she will ever get married.
Sharing a screenshot of the exchange, she wrote:
“I posted new curtains I installed in my house in previous post and this is what this married woman had to tell me.
“Why are we obsessed with marriage in Nigeria? To be honest, I am not sure I will marry in this my life and guess what?
“Nothing will happen if I don’t marry. Marriage is not by force. Why are we obsessed with marriage in Nigeria?”
