The mother of late Nigerian musician Afeez Adeshina, also known as Destiny Boy, has spoken out about threats to her life, only days after her son’s unexpected death.

Saidat Adeshina responded in a viral video to charges that she was to blame for her son’s death.

The bereaved mother dismissed all charges linking her to his death and urged Nigerians to protect and support her.

Following Destiny Boy’s death, several social media users started spreading rumours that his mother had cursed him or was responsible for his death.

These claims swiftly spread, prompting strong criticism and even threats against Saidat Adeshina.

The scenario has left the bereaved mother not only sad, but also concerned for her own safety.

In a video obtained by social media user @therealdolly1, Saidat Adeshina asked for assistance and justice, stating she had no role in her son’s death.

She said: “Nigerians, fight for me. They want to punish and kill me over what I know nothing about. I don’t know who lied that I cursed my son or said I killed my son. I’m innocent. Why will I kill my own son, my source of joy? Anyone who is behind this, what happened to me will happen to them, or else Afeez did not suck my breast. Do you think it is easy to lose one’s son?”

Her statements elicited sympathy from some online users, while others wanted answers for Destiny Boy’s passing.

Destiny Boy’s mother discussed the cause and location of her son’s death in the same video, but did not go into depth.
