Israel Adesanya, a former two-time UFC middleweight champion, has ended discussions about retiring from mixed martial arts despite losing for the fourth time in a row.
The fighter, who was born in Nigeria, lost to Joe Pyfer via knockout in the second round of UFC Fight Night in Seattle this past weekend.
Adesanya’s losing streak now stands at four, which is the lowest point of his remarkable career.
Adesanya was adamant about continuing to practice mixed martial arts in his post-fight interview.
Daniel Cormier questioned Adesanya about the change in tactics that ultimately brought him to ruin.
He said, “I said before coming into this fight, it’s been 13 months. I wanted to feel like I’d been in a fight, and he gave me just that. So like I said to him at the weigh-ins, they gave me a shot, now it’s my turn to give him a shot. And he earned it. And he did so great. So congrats to Joe Pyfer for this.”
With this being his fourth loss in a row, a defeat to No. 14-ranked Pyfer, Cormier asked Adesanya about what was next. Retirement?
“Keep going again and again and again and again and again!” Adesanya yelled. “I’m not f–king leaving! You’ll never stop me. I might get beaten, but I’ll always remain undefeated.”
