Cristiano Ronaldo will undergo ‘urgent tests’ to determine the severity of a muscle injury sustained during Al Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al-Fayha over the weekend.
The 41-year-old, who missed a penalty during the match, was forced to leave with less than 10 minutes remaining after signalling to the bench that he had a problem.
Ronaldo was struggling as he exited the pitch, and he was seen wearing an ice pack on his leg while sitting out the rest of the game.
The injury has left Portugal fans concerned about their main man’s fitness, with the World Cup just three months away.
Al-Nassr manager Jorge Jesus stated, “Ronaldo suffered muscle fatigue, and the medical staff will urgently perform the necessary tests to determine his condition.
Ronaldo had the opportunity to give Al-Nassr the lead in the 12th minute after his teammate, Mohamed Simakan, was fouled.
That was the 35th penalty missed in his glittering career, leaving the Al-Nassr and Portugal captain 35 goals shy of reaching the 1,000-goal mark.
Ronaldo has scored 181 penalties, missing only 16.2 percent of his 216 attempts.
