Child survives as suspected herdsmen k!ll his mother and three brothers in fresh Benue attack


A four-person family has been k!lled to a new overnight a$$ault in Benue State’s Guma Local Government Area by alleged armed herdsmen.

The Imande Dem settlement along the Gbajimba Road in Uvir Council Ward was the target of the attack, which locals reported happened at around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, leaving the community devastated.

According to community sources, the attackers broke into a home while people were sleeping, k!lling a woman named Mrs. Utsuwa Chicha and three of her sons.

According to reports, a young boy who survived the attal@ck was sh0t and taken to a hospital for emergency care.

Community members said he was taken into surgery to remove bullets lodged in his body.
 
Residents further disclosed that the woman’s husband had earlier been k!lled in a previous attack, leaving behind a family now said to be made up largely of widows and surviving relatives.

The bodies of the deceased were later evacuated through a joint effort involving security personnel and local residents, while the injured child continues to receive treatment.

Security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as at the time of filing this report.
