CAF, PUMA introduce special gold-accented ball for AFCON 2025 final

A unique match ball for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final has been produced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and international sportswear company PUMA, giving Sunday’s title match in Morocco a golden touch.

When hosts Morocco play Senegal in the final at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah, where Africa’s new champions will be crowned, the commemorative ball will be utilised. The start time is set for 20:00 local time.

The limited-edition ball was created to recognise both finalists and commemorate the tournament’s culmination, according to a statement released by CAF on its official website on Friday.

The ITRI ball, which has been used throughout the tournament, features a striking design inspired by traditional Moroccan zellij geometric patterns, including central star geometry, floral petal outlines, and circular symmetry.

“Built on PUMA’s advanced Orbita 6 technology, the ball combines heritage with innovation, meeting the performance standards required for elite-level competition while celebrating African culture,”

The gold-accented version adds extra visual aspects to highlight the final’s prestige while keeping the basic design of the standard ITRI ball, which has been in use since the competition began.

After weeks of fierce competition, goals that broke records, and thrilling knockout stages, Sunday’s game will conclude the tournament.

Prior to the competition, CAF and PUMA had presented the ITRI ball, characterising it as a representation of contemporary football technology and African ingenuity.

The final is anticipated to garner significant attention around the continent and beyond, with Senegal looking to add another continental crown to their collection and Morocco vying for a historic triumph at home.
