Just hours before he was scheduled to headline the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert in Rabat, Grammy-winning Nigerian star Burna Boy encountered an unforeseen hitch upon arriving at an airport in Morocco, according to CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

During a recent press conference, Motsepe revealed that Burna Boy was briefly detained by customs due to a problem with his jewelry. The singer was allegedly stopped by customs officers after they noticed “heavy and beautiful gold jewellery,” which prompted officials to step in, according to the CAF President.

“Recently was called that I need intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I intervened and it was resolved,” Motsepe said, noting that the situation was handled amicably.

Later, on January 16, Burna Boy headlined the AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat as scheduled. Alongside Moroccan performers Stormy and Jaylann, Stonebwoy, a Ghanaian artist, also gave a performance.
