BREAKING: ‘Repentant’ Bandits Kill Grandson Of District Head, Abduct Nine Others In Kaduna Highway, Farm Attacks

According to a local family member, Ibrahim was slain when armed men opened fire on his commercial vehicle at Kwanan Giginya on the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari route.

In two separate attacks along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road and in a community within the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, “repentant” bandits in Kaduna State killed a commercial driver and kidnapped nine others.

The driver, Mallam Ibrahim Adamu, is reported to be the grandson of one of the Birnin Gwari Emirate’s District Heads, according to a relative who confirmed this to SaharaReporters in a mail sent to our New York office.

According to a local family member, Ibrahim was slain when armed men opened fire on his commercial vehicle at Kwanan Giginya on the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari route.

The perpetrators reportedly killed him on the spot and kidnapped five passengers before escaping.

In a separate incident, four farmers were kidnapped while working on their crops in the Kurgi neighbourhood of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

The victims were claimed to be engaged in ordinary farming tasks when the gunmen struck and carried them away to an unknown destination.

The twin strikes have heightened fears about security along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari corridor, which has seen repeated assaults amid assurances of peace talks with armed groups.

Community members also said that armed gangs operating in the area routinely grab motorcycles, phones, money, and other items from victims, as well as homicides and abductions, which they claim are frequently underreported.

Residents have urged security officials to increase patrols along the route and bolster security presence in vulnerable farming towns to prevent recurring attacks.

Residents report that the ongoing violence has significantly hampered farming activity, economic travel, and overall safety in rural villages.
