Residents of Achida community in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State have reportedly foiled a b@ndit att@ck in what observers describe as an uncommon show of organised community self-defence.
According to local and security sources, armed bandits invaded the area but were quickly confronted by residents and local vigilante groups, who mobilised to resist the a$$ault.
The villagers are said to have engaged the att@ckers directly, forcing them to withdraw after a brief clash. During the confrontation, one suspected bandit was k!lled, while others reportedly escaped, some possibly injured.
Sources praised the bravery and unity of the residents—especially the vigilante members—for their swift action in protecting the community.
Security agencies are expected to intensify patrols and carry out follow-up operations in the area to prevent further attacks and track down those who fled.
